French Canadian Pea Soup

French Canadian Pea Soup
This can be made with or without the bacon.
8 cups water
1 pkg (1 pound) dried yellow split peas
3 medium carrots, diced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 rib celery, chopped
1 cup diced Canadian bacon (optional)
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp dried rosemary
1/4 tsp black pepper
1. Rinse dried peas well.
2. Place all ingredients in slow cooker (crock pot).
3. Cover, cook on low for 8-10 hours.
4. Place 2 cups in blender, blend till smooth.
5. Repeat with 2 more cups.
6. Return blended soup and stir.
7. Serves 8.
